Hanna in Louisiana: Food, Real Estate and the People Who Make Louisiana Special

Louisiana is one of those places where food is never just food. It is tied to family, community, tradition and, occasionally, a pretty serious argument about what belongs in a pot of gumbo.

On this episode of Tigs Bits, I sat down with Hanna Singh, better known online as Hanna in Louisiana, to talk about how she built her platform by sharing the food, businesses and people she discovers across the state.

How Hanna in Louisiana Got Started

Hanna’s content feels natural because it comes from genuine curiosity. She enjoys finding interesting places, trying local food and introducing her audience to the people behind Louisiana businesses.

That authenticity has helped her create a connection with viewers who are looking for more than another polished advertisement. Her videos show the personality of a restaurant, town or business while still giving people useful information about what they can expect when they visit.

We talked about how her platform began, how it has grown and what she has learned from putting herself in front of the camera.

More Than a Food Reviewer

Although many people may recognize Hanna from her restaurant and food videos, she is also a Realtor.

Those two worlds actually fit together well. Real estate is about more than showing houses. It requires understanding communities, neighborhoods and the things that make people want to call an area home.

Hanna’s content gives people a closer look at Louisiana through its restaurants, small businesses and local personalities. That same knowledge can be valuable when helping someone decide where they want to live.

North Louisiana Versus South Louisiana

Being from Florien, I always enjoy talking about the differences between North and South Louisiana.

Louisiana is often presented as though every part of the state has the same food, culture and traditions. Anyone who has traveled around the state knows that is not true.

North Louisiana has its own identity. South Louisiana has its own identity. Even neighboring towns can have different opinions about how certain dishes should be prepared.

Those differences are part of what makes traveling around Louisiana so interesting.

The Great Gumbo Debate

Naturally, we had to discuss one of Louisiana’s most important questions:

Do tomatoes belong in gumbo?

People across the state have strong opinions about gumbo, the trinity and what ingredients should—or should not—be included.

There may never be one answer that satisfies everyone, but those debates are part of the fun. Louisiana food traditions are often shaped by family recipes, geography and the way someone learned to cook growing up.

Supporting Louisiana Businesses

One of the best things about creators such as Hanna is the attention they can bring to locally owned businesses.

A single video can introduce thousands of people to a restaurant or business they may have never discovered otherwise. For a small business, that exposure can make a real difference.

Hanna’s platform highlights the creativity, hospitality and hard work found throughout Louisiana. It also reminds viewers that there is always another place to visit, another meal to try and another story worth telling.

Watch the Full Conversation

This episode is a relaxed conversation about content creation, real estate, Louisiana culture and, of course, food.
