A 23 year old Louisiana singer with a voice straight out of classic country. A wild Randy Travis story. A swamp witch covered in fake blood walking into a Mexican restaurant. This episode of Tigs Bits had a little bit of everything.

This week, Traveling With Terin returned to the show and brought along Louisiana singer Mike Broussard, a young artist whose voice sounds like it was pulled straight from the golden age of country music.

Mike comes from a deep musical family, and you can hear it the second he starts singing. He talked about growing up around classic country, learning from his dad and family, and how artists like Gene Watson, George Jones, Merle Haggard, John Conlee, and other country legends helped shape his sound.

One of the biggest stories from the episode was Mike’s Randy Travis connection. After one of Terin’s videos helped bring attention to Mike’s voice, Randy Travis’s verified account reached out about having Mike come sing at one of his shows. What followed was a long road trip, a lot of uncertainty, and a story that Mike can now laugh about, even if it did not go exactly as planned.

Terin also shared what she has been up to since her last appearance, including her experience working on the Louisiana movie The Fois. She talked about being one of the swamp witches, getting covered in fake blood, and then walking into a Mexican restaurant afterward because the blood would not come off. That alone is worth hearing.

The conversation also got into Mike’s original music, including his song There Will Be No Flowers, how it came together early one morning after a late night gig, and why his upcoming album is aiming for a true 1970s Nashville country sound.

Of course, it would not be Tigs Bits without some Louisiana food talk. Jar roux vs homemade roux, dusting crawfish, tomatoes in gumbo, steak sauce, rice and gravy, crawfish, chicken and sausage gumbo, and a few other South Louisiana debates all made their way into the conversation.

This episode is full of music, Louisiana culture, funny stories, food opinions, and a reminder that sometimes the best conversations are the ones that wander naturally.
