Rikki Simmons, better known as The Blue Collar Chef, built her brand on something a lot of people can relate to: making the most out of very little.

What started as simple cooking videos turned into a growing online following, but behind it all is a story most people don’t see.

From Survival to Purpose

Rikki didn’t learn to cook in a professional kitchen. She learned during one of the hardest times in her life.

After her husband Johnny was seriously injured in a cattle accident, everything changed overnight. Work stopped. Bills didn’t. Life got real, fast.

At one point, they went from having land and stability to living in a hotel just trying to keep things together for their kids.

That’s where her cooking style really took shape.

Simple meals. Stretching ingredients. Feeding a family with whatever was available.

Not for content. For survival.

That mindset is now the foundation of everything she shares.

Building The Blue Collar Chef

Rikki’s content didn’t start with a big plan. It started as a way for her kids to have something to look back on one day.

From there, it grew.

People connected with her because she wasn’t trying to be perfect. She was real. Budget meals, practical cooking, and no fluff.

Over time, those videos turned into a loyal audience across social media.

Her focus has stayed the same: Feed real families with real food that doesn’t break the bank.

Johnny Steals a Few Moments

Midway through the conversation, Johnny jumps in, and it adds a completely different energy to the show.

What started as a quick appearance turned into stories about trucking, hauling loads across the country, and what “blue collar” really means day to day.

It wasn’t planned, but it worked.

You get a better feel for their dynamic, their humor, and the life behind the brand.

More Than Just Cooking

This episode goes beyond food.

It’s about resilience, family, and figuring things out when life doesn’t go according to plan.

Rikki’s story isn’t polished. It’s real. And that’s exactly why it works.

If you’ve ever had to make something out of nothing, this one will hit home.
